More than 30 years since the band proper disbanded following the tragic, premature death of wild man drummer John 'Bonzo' Bonham, Led Zeppelin's profile, popularity and place in history is as secure as it ever was. As generation after generation realise that Zep's timeless rock music far outstrips anything passing for such in current trends, this legend amongst groups draw in new fans as readily as those already hooked maintain their love and loyalty. This double DVD set finally sets the record straight by documenting; firstly, Led Zeppelin's long and complicated coming together in 1960s Britain, and then the way the music they generated together turned this oddball collective into the most startling rock group ever to grace the music industry. The set includes rare, exclusive and archive interviews, seldom seen performance and studio footage, contributions from those who worked closely with the band, location shoots, promotional material from the time and a host of other features, all alongside the music that many still consider to be the finest Rock 'n' Roll ever made.
1.) Truly, one of the BEST rock-documentaries I have ever seen ! And I have seen plenty...this DVD set goes into great detail as to how the most amazing rock band ever, became "Led Zeppelin." This DVD shows very early Jimmy Page on BBC TV (about 13-years old or so), being interviewed on the TV stage....how Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones knew one another for years prior, as they did British sessions work together before ever becoming the legendary band that they ultimately became. It shows early Robert Plant and John Bonham, together in an early UK band....with their loves of the blues. And how after the breakup of The Yardbirds....all the elements came together and became "LED ZEPPELIN." Great interviews with those musicians who were THERE during the band member's early years....makes this a fascinating piece of film. - - - - The 1st DVD explores the first 2 Zep albums really.....and the 2nd DVD explores the Zep albums after "Zoso" (or, "Led Zeppelin IV") - - - with a great deal of time and emphasis on "Physical Graffiti", and looks at each song on the 2-record set and analyzes each one. Very interesting album and dissection of each of their "Graffiti" songs !
I saw Led Zep in concert in 1972, 1975 and 1977 at the San Diego Sports Arena.....I love the Beatles incredibly, but for SHEER THUNDER ROCK music that knocked the socks off you, Led Zeppelin is/ was/ always will be "The Hammer's of the Gods" - just the best rock group who has ever played together - period !
2.) Pretty good documentary telling the bands story & giving good info about each member.
