1.)Read the other reviews if you want "TRUTH!" Not from me -- this thing is just too dang cute, too dang pretty, to dang dang silly for me to try to be a critic. Singing didn't bother me a bit. But then, heh, I'm 72 years old -- that soundtrack's got hooks in me I forgot about, but it knew how to push my inner jukebox's buttons, and tons of emotional triggers from the songs had me aswoon in my own history -- which didn't overpower my being mesmerized by the sheer allure of the visuals. So, hey, I really don't care in the least if it didn't work for a lot of folks. I paid my 20 bucks, and I'll watch this puppy enough times to amortize my entertainment dollar. Yup -- didn't even get creeped out at the inter-species thang, but others sure might. Tons of details I'm sure I missed on my first viewing. Thing's got creative depth.
2nd viewing went very well despite having seen it but a short time ago. 3rd time will also be good methinks.
2.)I have probably watched this movie over twenty times now and I genuinely still can't get enough of it. I really couldn't pin point one thing that makes me adore it so much, just it is an altogether cute, fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. The covers are admittedly not the best sometimes with some off-pitch notes here and there but I really don't care. I LOVE the soundtrack and the way the characters sing their songs. It got a horrible score by critics on just about every site I've looked it up on, but I highly recommend just not taking it too seriously and you'll enjoy yourself.
3.)I did not expect to love this movie. Through the first five minutes I asked my friend several times why he'd subjected me to this. But then it got better. And it continued getting better all the way to the spectacular end. Now, this is one of my favorite movies, and I listen to the soundtrack of it in my car all the time.
The music is fun and lively, the story is engaging and sweet, and the characters are strong and enjoyable. This is a great family-friendly movie that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fairies, musicals, and love stories.
